Admission

Thank you for your interest in St. Mary's Elementary school in Worcester, MA. Founded in 1915 as a Catholic parish school, St. Mary's Elementary School continues in its long tradition of educating and nurturing students - mentally, physically and spiritually.

Taught by highly qualified faculty within small classes, our challenging academics emphasize the acquisition of fundamental skills along with a broad-based knowledge of the liberal arts and sciences. The academic program promotes communication and decision-making skills, creative and independent thinking and critical judgment. The environment at St. Mary's Elementary School requires both in and out of the classroom, the development of self-discipline, integrity and honorable behavior. Our Catholic orientation promotes a concern for each individual's spiritual growth and a respect for the diversity of the school and community.

St. Mary’s Elementary School’s admission procedure supports the mission of the school in its recruitment practice by encouraging candidates who demonstrate the ability to benefit from its academic environment and to meet the expectations of a Christian community. Students are admitted regardless of race, creed, color, socioeconomic status and national or ethnic origin.

First priority is given to parishioners of Our Lady of Czestochowa Parish, to siblings of current students, and to Catholic children. As enrollment allows, admission is also afforded to non-Catholics whose parents endorse the mission of our school.

Children applying for Kindergarten must be five years old on or before December 31. Children applying for grade 1 must be six years old on or before December 31. All new pupils in grades K through 6 must present birth, baptismal, and immunization records, and school records/national tests.

In consideration for admission, we reserve the right to assess the readiness of a student’s capability to perform the work of a given grade by testing (Kindergarten) and by reviewing previous school records, including subjects taken and evaluation of performance, objective aptitude and achievement test data, observations and recommendations, student profile, and interview results. A sincere parental commitment to support the program and staff is necessary.

All transfer students will be on probation for one quarter. Final determination will be dependent on whether all rules, regulations, and academic requirements are met and parental cooperation is evident.

Every reasonable effort will be made to admit students who qualify, who can benefit from the Catholic education offered at St. Mary’s Elementary School and who are willing to internalize the ideals of our Faith.
